ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Is there a question here, or are you just trying to explain how you messed up your block?
If you're looking for advice on how to fix it, you may be able to get a thread repair kit. Ask at your local parts store, they may have them. They basically look like tightly wound coil springs that will let you thread a bolt back into the holes. Maybe next time you can try to be a little clearer in your post, so others can help you.

X2, plus I don't really think a rear mount problem is going to cause clutch failure.
Diddn't you think something was wrong by the time you had done it the 3rd time??
What clutch have you been using?

If you are asking for a fix on how to "unstrip" the engine block threads - Get a new block - If I may ask, How did you manage to strip 17mm bolt threads . . .

stripping 17mm bolts! Stop working on your car and pay someone else to do it.

What are your methods for re-installing bolts? By the 2nd stripped bolt you should have stopped immediately and re-assessed your methods.

Replacing the block is the WORST idea to fix this issue. Granted there is no reason why any sane person would strip those big bolts but whatever....

Take each bolt that's stripped out and go to your local hardware store and find them in the same lengths but a step bigger diameter (14mm thread diameter to 16mm thread diameter, etc..) Preferably find them with the same threads per inch (step from 14mmX20 to 16mmX20, etc...)

Then go buy a QUALITY thread tap and drill bit for those new bolts, drill and tap the holes making sure not to go any deeper into the engine block. The larger bolt will make up for the stripped threads but not weaken the block in any way that you'll ever notice. You'll spend $50 tops and can leave the block in the car while you drill and tap the holes, much less expensive and is the best way to fix this issue.

I fixed a stripped tranny mount stud like this and have no issues from it.

i agree to tap the block instead of swaping it out

so tap it thats best? so does tha mean I go up in size with the bolts? after i tap that

it was like this when I bought it, I replaced the clutch, noticed the bolts wernt holding

Did you tighten the transmission bolts up to the correct torque spec?

If you are unfamiliar with how tapping works, you might want to have a shop do it for you (do you have a 'mechanic' type friend that works on cars a lot?). Otherwise, do some reading/research on how to properly tap a worn hole so that when you do it, you do it right and don't mess things up even worse.

Tapping creates new threads to replace old ones, or if you have a hole with no threads in it currently. Because your current hole is stripped out, you will have to go to a larger size to offset the missing metal that has been demolished by the loose bolts.
