    Custom starter button

FIRST OFF, i like how i i was banned from the beginner section thats real mature. I did nothing wrong.

Anyways, I found the thread in the DIY section for the starter button, but does it have to be a "button" can i use a switch? depending on the answer given i was looking for a spot to mount a starter button when i came across the idea of mounting it in the turn signal switch on the tip. is it at all possible to do this? i have a flip switch led can that work as a starter "button" do i really need a 12VDC 30Amp SPDT relay? relocate this or whatever just give me back my damn privileges

Because once you are over 30 post technically you're not a "beginner" anymore. So you can not make any threads in that section simple as that you can only post, no one banned you personally it's a rule.

Yes i don't see why you couldn't use a switch, just don't make a wiring turds nest like on your past threads.

any ways, how bout a relocation of the entire ignition switch to where that key lock is at the bottom left where the trunk latch is at? would be dope if i can get my ignition down there.

Just cut the wire in series and run it down there. You could put it anywhere if you wanted to.

what i did was wire a momentary switch in. you tap into the big white wire and the Black with white stripe wire and run them to the switch. your cutting the wires running from the back of where the keys go to the firewall. no need for a relay as your just tapping into wires and they relays are already in the system and fuses too. you still have to have the key in and turned to the final spot but you dont have to do that turn to turn over the engine, though you still can if you want but you can just use the switch to still do it.

I found a 12v ignition source in my under dash fusebox and ran that to a switch that I had laying around when my starter relay quit working. I was having to pop the hood and jump the battery to the starter but got tired of the weird stares at the gas station. I got a simple 12v switch from walmart, with a spot for 12v, accessory, and ground.

12v - I ran from the 12v switched ignition source in my underdash FB so that no one could just hop in and start the car without the key in the ignition

Accessory - Went to the starter

Ground - Of course went to ground.

            Any more questions PM me.

Hey, while you're messing around in there could you measure the voltage and current that goes through the ignition switch when the starter is kicked over? I'm guessing it's around 12V and maybe 1A?

Also while you are in there, vacuum up all of that weed on your carpet!

To be honest, that location is not optimal. I would put it on the dash next to the ignition, somewhere it won't accidentally get pressed.

And that is a real mature way to try and fix the issue isn't it?
Simply asking why in the rules forum would have been better.
