well i'm doing this right now, and stop to check this post, I couldn't belive the deposits there, 17 years of egr port not cleaning, danm, I gues imma take the whole TB down including IM and clean it.
Just a tip, I took the air intake an some other stuff down to make some room to work on it properly and it's much more relaxing when you don't have to strip your hands to get to a bolt LOL

I was re-reviewing this and just realized Honda sells the filter and gasket separately if needed. This may help those that only unbolt and unplug the EACV, but keep the coolant hoses in place (if there's just enough room to tilt this up and swap them out).

The gasket may be needed even if following the DIY, due to age.

                              For the beginners reading this:

I did the beginner's version of this DIY a few weeks ago with success. (remove bolts--keep coolant lines intact).

I already had the EGR ports cleaned several years ago and the standard tune-up items have been dealt with as well. I had the low idle with A/C on symptom.

I sprayed a corrosion preventer on the 2 bolts the night before and was able to remove the 12mm bolts with a recently purchased low profile rachet. I used 99% alcohol with medical swabs to clean the EACV filter and the diaphram in the other hole. I did the idle reset, and I noted an immediate difference in idle under load i.e., A/C on---idle maintained.

My EACV was not as dirty as some I've seen on here, so apparently it did not need a full removal and spraying with carb/throttle cleaner.
