    Plans for 2011

Well it's a new year and the new build has begun. New mounts along with some other go fast bits will make this a fun season! Will have pics asap.

    But for the update:
Pulled the motor and tranny out today. It wasn't so bad this time. I'm actually getting much better at it. Hell, it only took 10 hours by myself. Last time it took forever and a damn day with help. I got the motor sitting in my garage now. I'm just waiting to get a new spray bottle to degrease my motor. That damn thing is nasty from leaking tranny fluid, PS fluid, oil, and who knows what else. And I quite frankly don't wanna put new shiny go fast bits on a dirty motor...just ain't right.

    So here's a teaser!

and a photo from a while back

Time for a break from the engine as well as an update! (sorry I have no new pictures as of yet.)

This swap/project has been quite troublesome so far. From friends bailing and me having to do everything solo to finding out that I have to cut and re-do the connectors on my new 8.5mm MSD wires. The connectors that come attached are for a stock dist. cap while i'm running the MSD Extreme modified cap and a Blaster SS coil. Taking the stock internal coil out of the distributor took some convincing from the good ol' Die Grinder...both screws were stripped from who knows what since I've done all the work on the motor since fall of 07.

Thankfully i already had the die grinder out to shave the driverside motor mount bracket. Confused? Let me explain, I got mounts from ESP and on the driverside there is a small hump that has threads for a bolt that no bolt goes to. Called and talked to John who said I needed to just shave it down. No big deal I thought. I'm grinding away all merely and get the thought, "hey I should have goggles on in case this disc breaks." No sooner than i have the thought the freaking disc breaks launching debris in my face and a piece of the disc at my leg. thankfully, i have someone looking out for me and it was nothing.

Hopefully I will get some pictures up this weekend of the motor going back in as well as the full ignition system (yes this includes an MSD 6-series ignition control). Sadly though, it seems I will have to wait about another month or so (depending on my paycheck) before the good stuff goes in. Yes. I did just say the good stuff as in the ignition is simply complementing other components.

It's been a few months so I suppose I should do an update!

After having the car sit since the end of december, I finally got her running again this week. To say the least, my life has been chaotic. I've had absolute craziness happen from engine mounting problems, to my dad passing away March 28th, having surgery two weeks later, and 99 other problems and they all bitches.

The full ignition did not go in because I could not find a suitable mounting point for my ignition control and i'm not just gonna jimmy rig that thing. If anyone has suggestions on where to mount it, PLEASE let me know. But on the brighter side I am now running MSD 8.5mm wires and a blaster SS coil. Now i've read plenty of people's opinions about how the stock ignition can handle xxx amount of horses. That's all fine and dandy. But being able to handle the power and being able to handle abuse are two different games. There's a reason companies make aftermarket ignitions for our cars: stock parts are made to be cheap to make, fairly reliable, and easy to replace. Personally, (this means no dyno) I have noticed a difference in performance. Running the same set up as before except for the dist/coil/wires I have noticed a gain in MPG. I didn't even change spark plugs. Not only that, the car seems to respond much better. Perhaps it's just not driving her for so long but she feels like a different car. Even starting her up is a different, more pronounced feeling.

As far as the ESP mounts go, damn are they stiff! I mean, i thought my at idle vibration was bad before but now instead of just the steering wheel vibrating the entire front of the car vibrates! It's a bit rough at stops but once she's going it's fine. Keep in mind she's auto. Big ups to John at ESP for answering all of my questions and returning my calls promptly. Great customer service at ESP.

Pictures of ignition setup to come!

This has been a pretty cool build. Just been through the whole thread.

You are going to love the F&F's. I FINALLY got myself a set of used Type 1's about a month ago and they are fantastic.

Thank you good sir! It was my first black house that's been sitting on the shelf for two years. Finally got around to painting and looking forward to doing my actual headlights over the break from school.

That and upload the pictures from the suspension install

Finally got a day to put in some time on my car. Took the bumper off, swapped out the mounting bracket and piped in some new clips. The stock Honda screw type can suck my ass. Took the lip from the original bumper cover, sanded it down, and painted it. Didn't have the clips/hardware needed to actually install the lip though . Also swapped in non-cracked turn signal housings. Finally got to the bottom if my random vibration from the driverside engine compartment: the p/s adjusting bracket nut fell off so there wasn't tension on the belt. Tightened all my mounts and suspension down again. Went out back and swapped out the rear spc camber kit.*
