You need to let them know that you had prior engagements and are unable to alter at this point in time. Let them know you are serious about the job and new position but what they are asking is for you to change plans which have already been made prior to starting the job. Let them know that it is the only time you have a prior engagement and that the rest of the 3 month period is theirs to do with you as they please. They have seen your resume and they see that obviously you meet the criteria needed to succeed in this position and also help make this company progress from a positive standpoint.
Than if they ask you what is so important that you need to miss a day....

the only problem is that my boss' main employee is DoctorCipher on here, and hes a friend of mine, and we were planning on both going down... so we are both gonna take off the same day and leave the guy alone with nobody, lol. Justin is talking to him about taking off for TN tonight, and im going to need to tell him soon, and probably give him a different reason... hmm this is going to be tough. if totally necessary, i can just give him some random excuse and get out really early, like noon... and get down to TN around like 2 AM ...

ok new update... justin talked to our boss, and guess what, HES going to be on VACATION during all of friday... so neither justin nor I could take off. SO the current idea is since the boss wont be around, we can both take off as early as possible and drive all night, loaded up on caffeine pills.
leaving noon/afternoon on friday, and having to be home sunday night, with 30 hours of driving in between... and an entire meet, doesnt leave much time for sleep, unless i fall asleep while driving. which i do all the time, so thats kinda scary.
crazy times i say, but it will be worth it.
