Spring West Coast CB Road Trip!

Yep, we're from Orange County and plan on doing the whole trip, so we're gonna get to SF the night before and get a hotel room.

Ok, I can now confirm that I'm going. The trial was pushed to November. Also, I too was planning to get to SF a day or two before the drive. But, my CB7 on the other hand is now a maybe. Crankshaft bolt hole threads stripped. I'll be posting about it later this week.

Dude, NOOOOOO! Did that happen when you were trying to put the degree wheel on? Will this necessitate a new crank shaft? If not, then it's time to help you find a massive tap!

I've got a bunch of suspension work to do to my car before the trip, so i'm stressing too.

I have a plan of attack which I'll post about later. But if it doesn't work then the CB7 is going to sit in the corner on a time out. At least the Odyssey has plenty of room for tools/equipment/wheels, that someone may end up needing during the trip. And it's a first gen Odyssey which is essentially an Accord.

Google Earth Trip Tour Completed!

Wow, this took the entire day.

I painstakingly made a path on Google Earth covering the exact route made using Google maps (thanks, Lucien, for the updates, the N1 is going to be awesome!). Then I made a tour that shows you the whole route from the perspective of a low lying plane. It's pretty sick, except for the part when the route dips under the Golden Gate Bridge (oh well).

To see my tour, you must first download Google Earth on your Windows or Mac. My file was created on Windows 7, so I don't know how compatible this .kmz file is with other OS.

I also have all the optional stops for photos, eating, and bathrooms marked on my Google Earth. If you want to see those as well, let me know.

After going through this road trip on Google Earth, I can tell that this is the mother load. This trip is not for the faint of heart .

I noticed that I made a little glitch detour around Pigeon Point on the tour. My fiance used to board her horse there, and I accidentally clicked the mouse when perusing over there. Ignore that for the purposes of the tour .

One of the best parts of the Google Earth tour is that N1 road connecting 101 to Malibu. That is going to be a fun stretch of the road trip! Did you get a chance to watch it, Lucien? If you have the path loaded, there is a special surprise at the very end.

I should be good to go. going to put new brakes all the way around. got new tires just last month. hubs spin with no sound. going to check my SPC upper arms/boot and the lowers. its all checks from here out (i feel) put this old A6 to the test... af_1132 I cannot tell you how cool this is going to be and to be putting it together is crazy cool. I cannot wait to roll with you all and see your rides!

Yep, this is going to be really crazy cool. We are going to get pretty close on this one, since it's quite involved .

All three of us do, it turns out. I have oil leaking and dripping from the center beam. I need to install a new oil pan gasket, it seems. This won't be a fun job with a center beam that has cross-threaded bolts and a ill-fitting DC header.
