Well those that know me, I work two jobs. I don't really have to...but I'm really close to the people I work with at my old job and want to help them out till the holiday seasons are over. I work both Swing and Grave shifts and on certain days I can work up to 16hrs. Yeah it's overkill and this is the result of it. Approximately at 7:10 AM, I fell asleep at the wheel on I-80W going off course on a exit ramp and wound up bashing my passenger front end in. At this point I woke up and immediately started brakiing but to no avail my speed was too fast for me to make a last minute correction.
My passenger wheel already damaged from hitting something then I guess folded in more sending me off course even more where I hopped a ditch (luckily) but I came at an angle that had my car flip and roll over 3x. All I can remember in that instant 2sec that seemed like a entire minute was my Airbag slapping me in the face and the ceiling collapsing in. When I finally finished rolling over, I was completely upside down hanging from my seatbelt. My engine was still running and I can smell a burnt smell of oil. Paranoid the car might catch on fire and blow up. I unlatched the seatbelt landing on my neck and then tried to crawl out the drivers side window....but it was stuck so I went through the passenger side window crawling over broken glass and cut up my hands really bad.
When I stood up outside the car, my tranny had a big slice from the G-square rim folding under and I can see tranny fluid dripping. 2min later my Engine completely shut off. I dunno if it seized or it could've been the battery cable that just got disconected which I found was snapped later.
I didn't call 911 coz I thought I was ok...however I was more worried about my car like it was a passenger that didn't make it. I just now came back from the hospital and was treated for a busted knee and cuts. My baby saved my life and now I don't know what I'm going to do now.
All the time and effort I put into my car has come to an end and now I have no clue on whether I should build another CB7 or just move on to another project.
Lesson Learned today: If you are tired or feeling drowsy....don't drive because it's just as equal as driving drunk. I live only 10min away from my job and thought I could make it....obviously I didn't. I'm lucky to have been able to crawl away from the accident.
I just wanna give special thanks to Ant and Jules for bein there at my moments of disbelief. Maybe Kurobei will be reborn....we'll just have to wait and see but for now I must tend to my injuries and lay low for awhile.
And before anyone asks... NO I AM NOT PARTING OUT MY CAR! until I figure out whether or not I'm getting another cb7, i'm not piecing things out....i'm too banged up to do so anyways.
