    First swap! :D

So I bought a 93 lx coupe about 3 weeks ago. Anyways I threw a rod so it's time for a new engine. I'm going for the h22a engine. Basically I've read all the swap info I can pertaining to our chassis. I even found a full DIY on here. I have a couple questions though.

    1) will I need prelude axles?
I came across a couple other forums that suggested new axles were needed.

    2) What parts do I have to modify?
I read (on other forums) that I have to modify transmission pin connectors to the engine and that my a/c will have to be custom.

    3) Can I have reputable mechanic shops swap the engine for me or do I need to do it myself?

I don't have lots of mechanics knowledge. I'm more of a body guy. There's a mechanics shop called Christian Brothers. Literally down the street from me. I was think maybe they could do it. Anyone know any shops in Dallas that could help or do it?

I'm really stoked to get the engine. I've already checked some pick n pull yards here in Dallas. I've checked out Hmotorsonline but they are out of stock for the h22. Hopefully I find one in good condition ready to get my cb back on the road

Since you read the DIY please re-read the DIY on the H22 Swap and you should know you can use your stock axles.

Still not a bad idea to get new Accord axels if you need them and who knows when and if they were replaced.
Be unique, like every other person.

I figured i would need to replace it regardless. When I start on my suspension I'll be replacing the axle. for now I just need it to drive

I was looking around today at some shops in the Dallas and dfw area to do the swap for me. I haven't called any yet but I've read that it could take up to 2 weeks to get it done. I don't mind that. But the price is what's getting me. I saw 4k all the way down to 2.2k anyways I've never removed an engine before but out of curiosity how hard is it to really remove and drop in a new engine? If I do this myself, I'll have ,my personal mechanic help me.

It's not that hard to do it if you gather everything before hand. I'm working on a F22A* removal DIY thread that I need to add text to and some extra photos.

Bring everything to me and I'll do it for you. For a cost of course...

Yea i'm getting parts ready for the swap. I have the parts list already and I'm just checking off what i need one by one.

That DIY thread sounds extremely helpful lol, and if you were closer I wouldn't have a problem bringing it to you lol. I'm in the process of getting ready to purchase a 1st gen Explorer just so I can haul parts and tow my CB lol

The "sticky" threads in this section, that have been there for a decade now, tell you exactly what you need.

My advice: don't read H22 swap info for CB7s on other websites. Much of it will be outdated or incorrect. Trust the CB7 guys to know what they're doing. The info here has guided people through H22 swaps for a decade, and will continue to do so. Your first two questions are very clearly answered there.

As for the installation... having someone else do it for you will require you to learn less, as long as you can trust them. Most engine warranties require installation to be done by a professional.

I'm a firm believer on this. Having someone do a swap who knows what they're doing is far better than trusting your precious ride to a shop who "might" be able to do your swap. In my area of San Diego, for example, I am having a fellow cb7tuner member help me with my blue top swap. And pricewise, it cannot be beat

I feel that if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. You can solder, have the correct tools you learn more about the swap and the problems you have after will be minimal.

I did my own swap. I'm not a mechanic. It took me about 1 week in the garage with the motor out. Timing belt and seals. and 1 full day to pull and swap the motor in. Then the next half day to clean up the wiring.
The next week I cleaned up a few coolant leaks and fixed the PS.

I would do it again in a heartbeat. Plus you save money.

And I got all my info on this site. I had to do a few mods to my components since they were OBD2. But I learned a good bit about that too.
There are plenty of members on here who have done the swap themselves and can help out with the questions you have. But do a little reading yourself so you have a biasic idea.
