little informational update. when I finally tore down the head, I found that one of the exhaust valve guide seals were broken, so I decided to get a full valve job, no p&p tho. just re-cut and re-seal and check if valves are straight.
the blocks condition: not in the best shape. when strippin it down, I found that a lot of places gaskets should've been, were just made with silicon gasket maker. and the head gasket looked pretty beat. there was also a little scarring on some of the bearings and some where the balance shafts bearings are too.
It looked as if the whole 800 mile break in period was skipped completely and just ran. I'm glad I'm doing this rebuild on my own. knowing of the issues and what to avoid is hopefully going to lead me to running a healthy h22a4 in the cb7 for years to come. I've thought about selling. but after this... I don't see her leaving the family to some other kid who'll just smash it in a couple months.
funny how you can grow such a connection with a machine. JAUNITA BROWN is my lady!Last edited by Freshagen; 07-10-2011, 11:22 PM.
