"facebook ruined my life, it make's all my decisions, it controls my being".

Damn Justin, you run a pretty big company, i'd thought you have more sense then that.

It's a silly arugment anyway, but I think that Facebook is a great tool, a wonderful gift to society, but as in most things, everything in moderation.

If you live your entire life on it, it's probably not good.

As far as bullying, simple. Parenting. I was not allowed at that age, to just free roam the internet. It was monitored and I shared a time limit as did my siblings.

So the parents letting their kids just have unfettered access to the internet and to just live on it all fucking day, well that's your problem. It's not facebooks fault.

The gun did it, facebook did it, the NRA did it.

Sounds a lot like people not taking responsibility for their actions.

^^ how did that contribute to the title of this thread?
So that I'm not occused of the same I shall repost my contribution.

Respecting ones, "self work" is learned and finally appreciated, by those whom you would like to become friends.

It does not take money to put time and detail into ones endeavors, it takes patience and the blood dripping love and passion for it.

The process of pushing yourself to overcome the fear of doing something you've never done before on your own pride and joy. the anxiety and worry of doing it wrong because it's your daily driver, and then on your first attempt, walla! you failed and are sick at your stomach. but next weekend you spend every hour redoing everything you did in hopes this time you learned and it will work! That's the people who I befriend and support on these sites. I love doing for those who try over and over to do for themselves first.

        This thread ran it's course.

It didn't have anything to do with the OP. I already made my contributions.

Then some angry people turned it into a shit fest.

        Welcome to 2013.

ralphie=stalker lol sums it up. lol j/k eh let it go everyone. its like convincing someone who does heroine that its bad for them. they could give a shit as long as it makes them feel good. i support that. do what makes you feel good.

its near sighted opinions on both sides of the fence. who could ever convince the other to see reason?

            Exactly

I see how it went from a discussion on why the scene matters to a Facebook slug fest

            Close thread please

Intelligent discussion about it can be had, but it is hard when someone refuses to accept the truth and allows personal feelings to clout their judgement.

Facebook has been involved in a plethora of scandalous crap, from suicides to bullying, to child pornography and home robberies.

Im sure if you Google Facebook just right, there are 1000s of stories.

But I assure you that in not one of those stories, did Facebook actually commit or perpetrate those crimes. It may have allowed the commission of a crime, but it did not approve or incite/instigate/initiate.

It's just a medium, and how it is used, is directly related to the EU.

So by that right, I think it's unfair to blame Facebook for societies problems and those select problems that find their unfortunate way into the world of Facebook.

Saying things like, "It's sad if you're looking for friends from 20 years ago" is not helping your case, and is just making things worse.

That is part of why this thread was created anyway. Quick to judge and execute. No trial, no nothing. Bias and bs. No truth or honesty, especially within one's self.

I remember when Facebook used to be only for college students and MySpace was only for high school students

                Still I don't Facebook

But back to the scene. I feel that I am going to need new struts in the front. Or maybe should I follow my showoff nephew in law and trade the car in for a 2015 model.

Nah, I will just do the new struts

The only downside with Facebook is that it caters to the people and practices that result in "search, noob!" responses on forums.
Just as hands-on learners of days gone by tend to scowl at forum users because of their "internet knowledge" rather than their firsthand experience, forum users scowl at Facebook users for their lack of research skills.

I just had someone tell me on Facebook that asking "how do I do a swap" is research.

I guess it's a good thing that manufacturers are making obscenely powerful cars now. I mean, you can buy a Neon SRT-4 for under $8000 now (there's a $7500 one on Cars.com right now.) In stock form, the SRT-4 offers greater performance than a CB7 with an H22A swap, in a newer package (perhaps not nicer... but newer )
Modifying old Hondas seems to be something that will fall by the wayside. The only people that are going to continue doing it will likely be the true enthusiasts of the various platforms, and people that have a cheap car that they want to play with. Basically, oldheads that are in it for nostalgia, and kids that can't afford more than a $500 beater!

Pfft dodge neon.. I wouldnt care if it had 600 out the box. My cb's still look dope. Id rather push a honda then drive some domestic garbage.

True. My CB is a much better car than an Neon, as far as I'm concerned.
Still, I'm an enthusiast. For the average tuner with no real preference, the cost of making a CB7 as fast as an SRT-4 will be about the same price (if not more), than simply purchasing an SRT-4.
Today, you can buy bone-stock cars that are as fast and effecient, potentially as reliable and comfortable, as a modified CB7 for "my first car" money.

I guess Ill just have to label myself as an enthusiast

Just buying something.. wheres the fun in that? I can understand if youre rich and get a ferarri or what have you.. Alas the car market is picking up on the current trend of youngsters. Instant gratification. Thats hilarious, suburban kids getting their evo's or whatever thinking theyre something hot, but you pop the hood and they are stumped. Thats a win for the enthusiast. Ive become very intimate with this chassis over the years and that trumps all

i think that its obvious that the scene still does matter because there are some of us that are either wanting for it to branch out (pro facebook people) or stay exclusive (pro cb7tuner.com people) either way you cut it, it shows that there are still people willing to fight for the scene.

now had no one replied to this thread i think you would have had your answer mike. but to me at least i think this is all a perfect example that it is still very relevant to many of us.

                          anyone agree?

Well I don't know if I would use the replies to this thread as a gauge for the "scene", but I understand where you're coming from.

The people who have been about this platform from day one, and never wavered are still here.

You for one, are an OG. 2004. TYPE G is still around im sure, CP Mike, JSpec, MRX.

I know Visual Poet still has Azume.

All those great rides, in many stages of build(Jspecs I believe is half torn down), is the proof that the "scene" is still alive. You just have to know where to look.

All these asshole kids that flood our servers daily, they haven't the slightest clue. Every now and then one of them will stumble upon the good stuff here, and take it and run with it like it's 2003 lol.

                            The rest fade away.

                            Others just move on(Tippey).

This fucking forum is so diverse, it is ridiculous. Sometimes my favorite thing about this forum isn't the platform, but rather the forum itself and the crowd that hangs out here.

As much as some people annoy the shit out of me, I still post. I take my breaks, but I always come back.

Due to life happening, I may move away from Honda for a bit, but I have not let go of the need to get into another cb and do a classy OEM build. I realize as time goes on, it only get's harder, since this current group right now is buying up cb's and stancing the fucking shit out of them and then dumping them for the next best thing.

                            Oh well.

                            I think it's just a cycle.

                            We've had them before.

                            NINJA EDIT-

You want to see the "scene"?!?!?!?!?

You want proof it is still alive and breathing????????????

                            Three words-

                            "DiamondEyeClub".

                            Thailand.

Good luck finding a cleaner cb stateside.

                            Those dudes don't fuck around.

They also have easy access to a lot of fucking goodies.

                            I mean look-

                            Fucking drool worthy.

***I understand that those cb's might not cut it for some, that's ok. You should still see a clean cb.***

CB7s have a HUGE following in Thailand and Indonesia. It's truly impressive.

That's probably the best possible example
