anyhoo.
Monday - cleaned the new head and inventoried parts ready to install, ordered the rest
Tuesday - brought new head to machine shop and pulled old head out. interesting thing i noticed, is that the euro-r head and manifold's intake runners seem to be gasket-matched from the factory... i think i figured out what makes the euro-r head different: factory ported runners. when i get the new head back tomorrow ill be able to make a definite comparison.
today/wednesday:
got the car up on 4 jackstands and began pulling the suspension all apart. i have the front entirely apart, minus the lower balljoints being pulled from the knuckles. this was my first time dealing with pulling the stock hubs and bearings out, and it wasnt easy until i finished pulling the knuckles out, then they came out no problem because i had enough room to swing the sledge
tomorrow ill be picking up the new head from the shop (its getting shaved flat) and disassembling the rear suspension.
heres the final casualty list:
- both axles bad / clicking
- pass side bearing bad, drv side starting.
- both UCA's are bent/curved at the end from hitting the fender
- upper arm anchors (intrax kit) twisting and separating
- both upper balljoints very loose
- torn lower balljoint boots, one with stripped threads
- both tie rods loose w/ torn boots
the calipers, pads, and sway bar endlinks had all been replaced by steve, so they were all not too bad, besides the rust on em. rotors were old and very rusty but were still straight and smooth.
on to the pics...
this is the "before" picture. the only thing i did was remove the caliper and brake line and spray pbblaster on all of the bolts.
my "bearing press"
i think im missing a wheel.
how its sitting in the garage:
i measured up the prelude crossmember. i need to use the stock accord radius rods and crossbeam, but the actual crossmembers are swappable.
rusty pile of suspension crap.
and a couple more gratuitous pics:
my new oil filter sandwich and pressure sensor sending unit, for the gauge.
annnnnd peek-a-boo:
Real Fact #161: The first TV network kids show in the U.S. was "Captain Kangaroo"

i really should post in here more often, but i always find myself getting off on a tangent searching for more things about this car, such as the oil adapter im really considering for my next motor....
you know how I feel about this car Mike. its a perfect example of what can be done to a cb7 in the hands of the right owner(s)
