Everyone on the list on first post in this thread is still going, except Kevin (he was taken off list).

Brett and I plan to meet up before and roll in together from east side.

That was kind of sarcastic, because people keep dropping out.

            That sound I was hearing

I'm starting to think it's a bearing. I'll have them checked on Monday.

If thats what it is, that sucks.

Jack up the front of your car, push and pull at 12 and 6 o'clock on wheel. If you get play, it is wheel bearing (assuming you have wheel lug nuts torqued to tight). Takes more time to jack up car than to test it out.

Not necessarily. My last bearing to go out had no play after 4000 miles of making noise. Anyway, having the shop check is free. I'll likely head up there in about an hour.

Edit: It's not broken enough to tell what it is yet. Refer to that link for the whole story.

its not "broken enough" to tell.

A new wheel bearing from TASauto, you can get genuine parts there, is like 60-70 bucks.
Not a big price to pay and if it doesnt solve the problem, well, now you got a new wheel bearing installed.

I'm thinking that after I buy this bike rack (getting a great deal) I'm going to go to the local machine shop and have them do a Timken bearing. I think it's $50 out the door.

That is how they mostly fail due to fatigue. What you are describing is an impact load that could damage the bearing raceway and cause more of a driveability annoyance issue (vibration that could result in a noise). I guess someone hit a pothole or the like in your car then or the bearing was defective to begin with.

Still easy to assess either way. Inspect through rotation of wheel bearing and determine if you feel any notchiness/nicks in the rotation. Try with wheel on and then take wheel off and rotate through hub assembly by hand. Obviously put vehicle in neutral with front end jacked up.

Geoff, do you typically maintain the vehicle yourself or take to a shop? If you are interested in learning through experience, try it yourself, especially on the easy stuff. You learn and save money. Buy a service manual, I suggest Haynes or the best is Honda service manual through company called Helms Inc. Up to you. If you are going to replace wheel bearing, inspect brakes and replace what is necessary while you are in there. Also, would be a perfect time if you want to do a front brake ROH (rotor-over-hub) conversion.

Eh, I think ROH is a bit much for me. I also have 4 new pads
I have a paper copy of Haynes, and I've downloaded Helms.
Here's a copy and paste from my MRT of the things I've done:
                            Brake pads front and back
Valve Cover gasket and oil pan gasket.
                            Rad cap.
                            Replaced right front turn signal
                            JB welded the other one
                            Fuel filter
Purged Brake lines and bled them
                            Master Cylinder
                            3 ABS Sensors
                            ABS Pump motor
                            PCV Valve
                            Repainted the roof.
                            Interior passenger door handle
                            Rear passenger window (Fuse!)
                            Inner distributor seal
                            New Spark plugs, 3-16-11 128k
                            New Spark plug Seals,
                            Valve adjustment
                            Painted Valve Cover

Actually, I've been "struck" with a bit of knowledge this past year. I can definitely do the timing belts, and if(when) I need to I'll change the trans.
Also, a sort of donor car was my friends CB7. We rebuilt the suspension. That's where I learned what a bad bearing felt like.
Because I listen to every sound my car makes, I'm able to hear things before they start giving off problems. I heard my ball joints the second they started squeaking. Took it to my mechanic and he told me not to worry about it. Took it in 6 months later and (different) mechanic noticed them as I pulled into the shop. Those 6 months were hell.

Good, sounds like you have a start. You should replace that seal on the valve cover that you used a smaller washer on. It's damaged. Do you have to redo the Felpro valve cover gasket kit? Stick with OEM as mentioned in meet so you don't have to do them things twice over.

I'll probably order that seal and new lowers. I also need seals for that top shift solenoid. Never should've taken that off!
