welp looks like i have a new project and more work to look forward to but thanks for the info, thats what i want.

    alright heres the situation.

there are 2 things that are bothering me about my motor. while im happy with the cleanliness, im not happy about:

    1. the corroded bolts and fasteners. i was looking at this picture of ICB's civic: http://icbmotorsport.com/pics/Cust_R...t/ICBEG6_1.jpg
i was looking at the rear coolant temp sensor that stands out in that picture, wondering what i could do... then it hit me. a quick polish with the dremel will make the hardware look brand new! i probably wont do it all at once, ill take them out one at a time (even the ones that i painted over) and do them over a period of time. certain ones ill replace with brand new hardware.

    2. the color of the paints. while they are the same Cast Coat Aluminum 1650, for some reason the block is a diff color than the tranny. this really, really bothers me, and it will for the rest of forever... i hate the color of the tranny. if im doing this much work, i want it to be PERFECT... so im considering redoing the block and tranny with Cast Coat Iron (1606?). its darker, but its always been my favorite color paint - i think it would add some nice contrast against the white engine bay, having a darker block... tough decision... its not TOO dark, its medium grey, similar to the color of the ultra clean block of the ICB civic above. heres a picture of the color, its the valve cover and header flange: http://www.****.com/mauri/for%20sale/h22a%20front.jpg

id like opinions and comments about both....

btw, is it obvious that im a picky person?

Personally I think the block would be too dark with that color, but that's just me. I think engines look best in bright colors.

Clean fasteners are awesome and the attention to detail would really make it stand out.

Stop talking about polishing...now you're giving me ideas.

....WOW that looks awesome! I'm gonna have to keep looking at this thread to see more pics etc.

        *edit*

Now your making me want to clean my engine bay, because I have the same color car as you. Keep up the good work.

IMO I think that you should paint it the new color. It would look really nice in the engine bay, and the block and tranny would be the same color. Man as for polishing the bolts and everything has been giving me some ideas. I love reading this thread. Want to come to Arizona and help me out? I will pay you with mexican food and beer LOL. If thats not enough I will take you to the strip clubs in Mexico LOL.

thanks so much man... its weird to think that people are enjoying reading my thread, its just an OCD project ive taken on, but getting responses is very encouraging and makes me want to get even more detailed with it i wish i had time to help everybody out with their swaps, but between working 45 hours a week (6 days) and working on 4 cb7's, it gets tough to have time to do anything else...

anyway the color difference between the tranny and block isnt quite as noticable as it is in photos, the flash does weird things. but its still there, and it annoys me. i have 2 new cans (they better fucking match each other) of Cast Coat Aluminum. im going to give those one more try, see what color they come out... ill attempt to get everything to match each other. ill also test out the cans of Cast Coat Iron on a spare f22 block to see what that looks like.

final color decision (and painting) will be done tonight.

I feel your OCD brotha LOL!

Another thing you might try with the paint is blending it. You could either blend the block into the tranny, or vice versa. If you blended about 4-6 inches into the other, you probably won't be able to notice anymore.

Might save some effort with an equal effect.

Do you remember the F22 clean/paint project I did like 2 years ago with the black/red combo? Well, lemme just say that I FEEL YOUR PAIN BROTHA!!!! haha Projects like this are not for everyone! Seeing you do this is a comfort to know that there are still crazy fuckers around willing to put in massive amounts of time and energy into these old cars.

Only thing I have to warn you about besides leaks being your biggest enemy is that the paint on the front of the block started to get shipped away on mine from sand and tinny rocks finding their way past the readiator (no condensor or P/S cooler lines). Other than that, mine held up great. Like I said, LEAKS ARE YOUR WORST ENEMY!!! Just keep up on it which I'm sure you will

Nice setup. Btw what intake manifold gasket did you end up using for your euro r head/euro r manifold? I'm having a problem finding one for my euro r setup... But I had the same setup in my ride last year, but took it out due to a cop on a power trip.... but oddly enough i'm doing a full head pkg kind of like yours?? You got any old dyno numbers?? and what ecu you running?? lmk, and your motor looks good..

absolutely do, i love how empty you got the bay... i remember seeing your pics of stripping the whole thing out, made me realize it was something i could do.

as far as the front of the block, i have the condenser, radiator, and splash shield... hopefully it wont chip up. i put a good amount of paint on it... and i can imagine a leak slowly making the paint peel and chip... the time ive put into putting silicone onto all the seals, i dont expect it to really leak at all

thanks. and as far as the gasket, a regular h22a4 one should fit - i have a hondata phenolic spacer for it, but its still just for a regular h22.

nah i dont have any dyno numbers, hopefully ill be able to take a few runs and tune the p28 thats in it...

                                alright FINE, an update...

so the past 4 days ive spent working on 4 other peoples accords, so not much progress on my own. i did end up doing some painting, i got the block painted to MATCH THE TRANNY finally!! its not 100% perfect but i can hardly tell the difference... like... not at all... im extremely happy with the outcome.

as far as putting the motor in, im still waiting for the head, its still at the shop... said its supposed to be done sometime early this week... so if thats true, it should be getting dropped in sometime later this week.

over the weekend i picked up two presents from doctorcipher... nx wet kit, arp head studs

i tried polishing a couple bolts. they come out perfectly smooth and shiny, thats assuming the bolt head wasnt physically damaged at all... like mine have some dents and bent edges a bit, makes it polish strangely. plus the dremel polishing wheels arent very good and dont last long enough. im probably going to polish a few of the "special" hardware, and buy new hardware for the rest of the stuff.

and hte last picture is what i use to test paints on lol... i also use it as a backdrop for painting small objects. its an old shitty f22 with completely rusted cylinder walls since its been sitting outside with the head off since the end of the winter...
