    Car looks so nice!

    I've got a question:

:: Removed EGR + Evap emissions systems

What is the Evap system and what are the benefits of removeing both of them? Would it be possible to do this with a stock ecu?

so is this car back to being your daily driver?
if so hows everything holding up??
thanks, yes its back to being my daily driver. so far ive been driving it without any issues, besides a tiny coolant leak from the thermostat housing that just cropped up a couple days ago. ill be going outside to fix it right when im done writing this post :P ive driven it back and forth to jersey (1:30 one-way) a number of times, down to steves in maryland (8 hours in traffic, one way), and back and forth to work, and it feels great.

yeah, but at least its up and running so i wont need to worry about anything when spring comes. and as far as wrapping the header, i dont really like the look of the wrap, though it does make things look cleaner. im going to just leave this one until i can get a better header, as this one is rusting out from underneath anyway.

thanks!! the evap system consists of that black cylindrical "charcoal canister" beneath the black emissions box/ fuel filter, on the firewall, as well as a solenoid inside of that emissions box. the charcoal canister stores evaporated gas vapors from the fuel tank, and when the ECU decides its the right time, the solenoid pops and it clears out the canister and burns all of the fuel vapors. its not a fuel efficiency thing, just a way of reducing emissions (evaporated gas). you should be able to remove it with a stock ECU as i dont recall there being a check engine light # for the EVAP system...

the EGR recirculates exhaust gas back around and into each of the intake runners again. so in essence youre reburning burnt exhaust. helps burn off any possible unburnt fuel in the exhaust, again, reducing emissions. removing the valve will cause a CEL, so the easiest way to remove it is just put a blockoff plate under the valve, and leave everything else intact. civics dont have EGR, so my chipped ECU doesnt look for it, so i ditched everything related to it.

          car update 12/12/06:
          - 5th gen prelude floor mats make awesome winter mats, as they cover more area than the stock ones, but still fit well.
          - my car looks strange on steelies and hubcaps.
          - my coolant leak was nothing more than a slightly loose hose clamp
          - my suspension is in need of a revamp, ive been collecting parts... spring will bring good things

I'll take a wild guess at it. I'm guessing Omnipower coilovers, new OEM bushings, tie rods, balljoints, Upper/lower control arms, etc.

eh it didnt take too long, but it was mixed in with doing everything else with everything out of the bay and pulled apart, it was really easy

right now i have new front bearings, prelude vtec calipers, F & R upper strut bars, and a black ES master bushing kit (all not installed yet). ive already converted to non ABS and put the prelude 1" master cylinder on. im going to keep my neuspeed race springs. i really like how they feel for how low they are. ill probably be keeping my front camber kit, but im going to bang out that one area that the upper control arm hits. ill do a home depot washer camber kit for the rear, as it doesnt need to be adjustable, as springs arent either.

                    i still need to get:
                    - set of koni yellows
                    - SS braided lines
                    - front (prelude) and rear rotors, havent decided on which
                    - pads (undecided)
                    - id like a progress rear sway, but i can always add that later
                    - new balljoints and tierods
                    - 2 axles
                    - 2.3CL hubs

im trying to collect the parts over the winter so i can do everything at once in the spring. but of course as usual itll probably take me longer than that to be able to afford it all so it may happen sometime in the summer im not going to put any of it on unless i have everything at once.

Great work man, I dont know if I would have the patience for all of that. By the way, Im looking for a 1" diameter non abs master cylinder and I noticed you said something about a 94 lude cylinder and non abs lines so what kind of M.C is it and which trim prelude is it from?

the 92-93 accord EX with ABS came with a 15/16" master cylinder, and the prelude one should be 1"... the m/c is from a 92-96 prelude VTEC and the lines were from a CB without ABS, forget the year/trim (91 something) i got mine from, they were out of excalibur02's parts car. only issue is that one of the lines doesnt match up to the bigger master cylinder, i had to cut the fitting off and reflare the line with the proper sized fitting in place. worked great since, nice, stiff and responsive.

Yeh, I have a 91 EX non ABS and I thought the Prelude MC you had was non ABS. Well I have an ABS MC one from a 97 V6 Accord so I'll just have reflare the ABS fitting on, that one should also have a 1" diameter. Anyway thanx for responding, chill
